Rocky Ford Recreation is hosting a one day PITCH HIT AND RUN competition for both girls and boys, ages 7-14 year of age. This free event will take place on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 11am-2pm at Babcock Park. Pitch Hit and Run is an official skills competition for both girls softball and boys baseball and is sponsored by Major League Baseball. The PITCH portion of the program tests accuracy in the competitor’s attempt at throwing strikes. The pitching distance is determined by the competitor’s age. The HIT portion will test the competitor’s ability to hit off a batting tee to straight-away centerfield. Hits will be measured for distance and accuracy. The RUN portion will measure the competitor’s speed in a sprint from a starting line, touching third base and home plate for a complete distance of 120 feet. Winners in each age division will be eligible to compete in Sectionals (date/time/location TBD) and also Team Championships and National Finals during the MLB All -Star week.
